Sounds like you might have to come over and hang out at Camp Tamiya. We should have a healthy showing of Tamiya cars there.

I am from Md and have a 12 hour drive that i cannt wait for. At first i was sad it got bummped back a month but the more i think about it the better that is. Dave and Ollie do one great job to put on a race and now they have more time to prepare after the holidays to put on a race that cannt be compared to all year. I have been to both of the previous pnb events. All i can say is great job with putting on a great race cannt wait till PNB 3. Happy holidays to all racers. Ronnie

Any chance of running Pro Series rules and classes?
I know this would make for alot of different classes, but it could also cut back on sandbagging.
Not tring to start a huge debate with everyone, just asking a simple question is all.

12-16-2009, 04:16 PM

It has been alway's monitored.

So, only the two classes then?
No chance for an expert class?

leikam
12-17-2009, 08:41 AM
Correct, 2 classes.

Sportsman
Pro

Shannon Amos
12-17-2009, 12:42 PM
Just my .02 about having a Pro, Open, and Novice class is that you will truly have sandbaggers then. All of the normal pro guys will be racing Open unless they are 100%. So for the so called"new pro drivers" won't have a chance anyways.

then you just have 5-10 pro guys racing against each other.

ShagNasty
12-17-2009, 01:08 PM
you are going to have sandbaggers regardless, I think Pro, Open, and Intermediate is good to have as long as the times in the classes are watched and people are bumped up if it is appropriate to making for better competition in the class. I made the mistake of running sportsman last year, alot of hacking going on in that class, alot of people using other cars as a way to break in the tight corners, alot of damaged caused, but it is like that anywhere.......like i said, you will have sandbaggers regardless

JP

Enough talk about Sandbaggers....The format is set...and its going to be an awsome event.

One thing though...There was talk about having "little people" with mini sledge hammers to chase down cars in the straight jacket last year. Is this an option for 2010 PNB III

This year at the Psycho Nitro Blast Ryan Lutz will join Adam Drake in an attempt to shatter last years world record. Adam Drake jumped 143'-7 1/2" at a top speed of 77 mph. This year the PNB crew will be building a newly designed launch ramp that should put them in the 200'+ range. Both Losi and Tamiya will be bringing highly modified versions of their 2.0 and 801X buggy with rumors of some crazy design ideas and never before seen top speeds from an 1/8 nitro buggy. Maximum Awesomeness PNB style!!!!!!!

I remember being up in the scoring tower around 4am saturday morning, nobody really around. I myself was struggling to keep my eyes open when I see Ryan walking up to the drivers stand, car in hand. He had just received it from tamiya earlier that day and was heading out to do some testing before the quals. One of the best drivers in the world wheeling his car, the psycho track as the backdrop combined with the engine's revs ringing off the walls in the dead of night......I will never forget that.

Dear Psycho Brethren,

With The PNB - The Wreckoning fast approaching, I just wanted to take
a second and remind you of a couple of things.

The first couple of years of the PNB were an absolute blast with
people coming from all over the United States and Canada to take part
in the insanity. It really was insane, especially the first year with
a track that was very demanding (manybe a little too demanding?) on
your car and your psyche. It was blown out, it was long (a lap took
more than a minute for all but the fastest drivers), and had the Leap
of Faith which would launch your car higher than anything most had
ever seen. The Leap also claimed its share of car parts.

The second year was just as hard on the driver. The air quality
improved dramatically as well as the track surface. Just like the
first year, very few people actually got enough sleep to keep from
being anything other than zombies. You still could not slap the
smiles off of people's faces. The track was very fun, fast, and had
lots of big air. Just check out the vids for proof. Search PNB or
Psycho Nitro Blast on Youtube for lots of vids.

More improvements are built into the event this year. One of the main
ones is the change in the schedule that allows for sleep. In the
first two years we had qualifying all though the night. This year we
will have one qual on Friday night and the remaining two on Saturday.
I am not saying that we will not be racing late into the night, but
there will be a several hour break between rounds one and two. There
will also be a several hour break between the last qualifier and the
mains. This will allow you to get some sleep. This will also allow
mere mortals to race more than one class.

Interesting note: The track WILL be open for practice between
qualifiers One and Two. It will be open all night until just before
the second qual starts. It will give folks a chance to scratch for
those last few tenths.

Please keep in mind that Dave and I put this whole thing together so
we can all have the most fun. Big event, Big track, Big sound, Big
air, Big fun. Try not to look at it as just a race....we like to see
it as more of a big fun event for 400 of our closest friends.

See you soon.

- Ollie

Ollie and I have been discussing the way a post race recap should be done. Many times you just read about the qualifying order and then what happens in the mains with a few pics and BAM, your done. We feel you miss a huge percentage of what really makes an event "the event".

This years Psycho Nitro Blast will have it's own post race media release that will be available to anyone to read and watch free of charge. It will come from ollie and I and will be written from our perspective starting from the many months leading up to the race to the actual race itself. I'm not talking about a paragraph or two of stuff, I'm talking about a full blown run down of the Psycho Nitro Experience equiped with lots of videos, pictures and graphics.

But we are not happy with that. We want to hear from you guy's....The racers. We want you to submit to us your experience at the PNB. We want to hear about your practice sessions, the vibe you felt, funny stories that happened to you or your friends, the back flip you pulled off, how many Monsters you drank, how many friends you made, your qualifying experience, what happened in your main and what a good time you had. We also want you to include any pictures that you may have taken over the course of the event that helps describe your experience at the Psycho Nitro Blast.

Our panel of judges will review all the articles written and submitted and choose five that will make it into our post race media release. The five winners will receive a special PNB merchandise care package.

We will develop a section on our web site that will host the post race media release. We will then post the link on all the forums and e-mail all the participants with the link so you can experience the sensory overload that is sure to follow. It is also an easy way for you to send it to friends and family and share with them the ultimate in RC racing.

The due date for the articles will be Sunday March 14th. Please e-mail all entries to daveleikam@psychonitroblast.com.

Looking forward to it and can't wait to read your articles. We know this will be full of maximum awesomeness!

Later,
Dave

The first year of the PNB saw laptimes averaging a little over one minute. Last year's layout was a bit faster with laptimes of just over 50 seconds on average. We expect the layout to produce laptimes of just over one minute again this year. The track will be posted on Monday, Feb 15.

Hey guys, do not be discouraged to come to our event if you feel like
you are missing out because you cannot make Thursday's practice.
There is plenty of time for practice on Friday up until qualifying.
There is also another practice session between the first round and the
second round.

Another thought - Looking back on the race schedule listed on our
website, take the schedule with a grain of salt. The rounds may take
much longer than indicated. The first round alone may end at one or
two in the morning. Even longer? Also we will know about how long a
round will go based upon entries alone before we start, so we will let
you know at the drivers' meeting so that you can schedule accordingly.

Last, but not least: Because the mains will take a very long time to
complete, and because we do not want people to leave the event at late
night, we MAY push the starting times for the mains earlier into the
morning. Shortening the mains is not an option. You pay for track
time, and that's what you will get. Even if your main starts at 7
am. ;)

This just in from the Speed Shop camp:

The speed shop world record long jump entry is in the build/test stages. Today Friday the 12th yeilded only decent results with a 79mph run with test buggy #1, and a 86mph run with test setup #2. With the surface cold and slick with the snow today it was hard to manage the Speed Shop entry at these speeds! We are using the popular class leading Losi 8 2.0 B with two very different setups. We are going to be looking super fast with a www.fastlanegear.com wrap using a new "radio active" wrap! The Speed Shop will head out to Losi head quarters on monday to pick up the proto gears hopefully needed to achieve the speed needed to come out on top. After the Nitro pit event in Arizona we will return for a few days and get some testing and final prep work done on the SPEED SHOP entry before heading to the PNB. See you guys there! It's going to be insane!

We have also viewed a short video of Adam Drake at the losi office doing a speed run and suddenly getting a boost of power and a heavy smoke trail. All attempts to find out about it were refused by Losi execs....

Man o man, if that doesn't get you juiced up..... you don't like racing.

This is gonna be sick. I can see that I will have to shut down for about thirty minutes a few times.

I love that you guys brought back the Straight Jacket, awesome.

If you are a real racer then you know what the straight jacket is a replica of, and yes stoked to see that back! Love how you incorporated the track to fit the SCT'S, great job and well planned out.

Can't wait, wish I was leaving this morning to go run!

Heh. You would be surprised. I listen to a lot of different styles. I saw Dillinger Escape Plan live here in Atlanta back in 2006 or 2007 can't recall. Was insane. I also used to be good friends with the band GWAR back in the 90's when I was in touring band. I stayed at the bass player's house in Richmond, VA, talk about some crazy sheot. Those were the days.

Oh I forgot to mention, a old friend of mine played in NIN for a year (contract guitarist) saw him play the FOX here with them. He is now in one of the traveling Cirque De Sol Le bands.

Dear Psycho Brethren, The following information will be old news for those of you who have attended the first two Psycho Nitro Blast events. But for those of you who have not, here are a few things you should know. In addition to standard dirt features on the track, we at the PNB additionally use fabricated radiused wooden jumps. When thinking of a wooden jump, some people may have visions of a chunk of plywood propped up by a cinder block. Rather than simply being a “wedge” made of wood, all of our wooden jumps are radiused like a well built skateboard ramp, which means to you that your car or truck does not slam into the jump and take a beating. This provides a very gentle and controlled take off with very little loss of speed due to scrub. The jumps provide an extremely consistent flight and they do not degrade over the weekend. Simply take a look at the following clip of last year’s Pro A Main and watch as the cars smoothly fly off of the jumps. Also note the shape of the jumps:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5A-xRgFykOk

Being that the PNB is an indoor event, we share a challenge that all indoor events have: ventilation. We learned during our first event a few years ago that we have to be very aggressive in battling to keep the air as clear as possible. We had seventeen large fans to keep air moving through the arena last year and the air quality was remarkable. This year we will have twenty. Simply take a look at the following clip of the end of the Pro Buggy A Main and you will see that the air quality is on par, if not better than, any indoor events in the world. Keep in mind that this clip is at the end of a one hour main with eighteen cars on the track:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nvn4o55rbUs

Another thing that we would like you to know is that Dave and I are not casual about this event. We take the production of this race very seriously, as many of you take your performance on the track very seriously. Every thing we do is so that you will walk away from this event thinking “Holy crap, that was an amazing event!” We will take a stab at every single thing that we can think of to make this event the best you have ever been to.

You will get all race announcements over FM transmitter while in your pit area as well as over the PA while in the arena. You will get an informative drivers’ meeting without wasted time. All pro drivers in A Mains will get proper and respectful driver introductions. All mains will be enthusiastically and properly announced through a high quality, easily heard PA system. Pit men can easily keep track of driver placement and performance via large flat screen monitors mounted on pit road. You will have an unobstructed view of the huge 240’ x 140’ track (no roof support beams.) You will have a tremendous amount of time to practice…..approximately 40 hours. Everyone has ten minute qualifiers and at least ten minute mains. And there is so much more that you will simply have to see yourself. Go to the event website and browse around for a second.

Last night while getting my truck ready for PNB, i noticed seepage from the outdrive on the tranny. Pulled it apart to find a cracked diff. :(

I need to find a new diff at PNB, any help would be appreciated!

I can use;
MIP 09130 SC10 ball diff
Associated 9853 Sc10 ball diff

Or the HPI Gear diff that comes stock in the Blitz.

I prefer the ball diff so i can avoid more breakage but most importantly i need to race!

Give me a ring if you have something!

Thanks!
