Hey man that is a good question. This is asked to me a lot, how do you travel to Cali to race? I have been told, but don't have a first hand experience. I will next year, so if you are so inclined, a brief outline of what to do or not would be helpful. Tools and parts, is one of the big things to know how to pack.
Thanks Alan.

I travel on planes often. It's not as hard as you would think. A few things to remember:
Always arrive plenty early. Sometimes your RC stuff may raise questions and be looked through, etc causing wasted time.
Put extra magazines(RC) in each box and bag that may be looked in. This way they can hopefully see what is what.
Never travel with fuel or Nitro cleaner, etc.
Make sure your fuel tank is washed out with soap and water.
Your buggy/truggy needs to be cleaned like new. I always carry the buggy and radio on the plane as a carry on and check the rest of the support stuff.
One thing to remember is most airlines only allow 1-2 checked bags of 50 pounds and a carry on. For a week long event one of the 50 pound bags will be your clothing, shoes, etc.
This leaves you with one bag/box of 50 pounds. So you have to pack only what you must have.
MAke sure to label all bags/boxes with your name and destination very visible as well.

Another option that is less hassle that I have used over the last few years is just shipping direct to the hotel. I have 2-3 very sturdy shipping containers. I can pack everything I need and send across the country(ground) for fairly cheap.
When doing this make sure to pack tight and neat so that nothing can move around. I Also will fill voids with towels that I'll use at the event.
go to: www.allproshipping.com
They have great prices and are used by many of the top pros out in the industry.

Yah, I think I am going to try them for a couple of events next year. Looking to go out west at least once to CA or AZ and definitely the Nats in CO.

He's playing Mr. Mom since he's out of work, plus he lost the IPhone with the job :(
He's had a couple of interviews, and he's waiting on an offer.
He fried the SC10 motor yesterday, testing for SOGFRE in the grass in his front yard.
Wrong pinion for dead grass :)

just my opinion
10th scale seems to be dead most places :( ir at least around here in alabama ...i know of only a few places that still run it ...what has happened though is the corr or short course class has taken off like a rocket ..similar to 10th scale 2wd ....bigger bodies and more suspension travel ...the good thing is ...just about every track everywhere has a short course class now ...they can be competitive right out of the box ...and many still run nimh batts ..but most have gone to lipo ....check some out online ..might be a good way to jump back in ...with out jumping off the deep end :D
