Hopefully he will have a schedule up soon as I want to be more active this year with my racing. I do believe I remember when I stopped by the shop a little bit back that he said something about late February maybe. Can't wait!
Hey Zixxer you gonna race that Strike this year, I think I finally got mine to handle decent. I was worried there for a while but now I don't think it is much slower than my X Factory (assuming I can manage a race with few brain farts).

LOL.....I've learned from racing real cars for years....you keep your mouth shut before and after the race. If you do good, people will notice. My theory though is complete opposite of Blake " The Jedi"......he talks smack before, during and after the race...even if he's last place....lol. I agree Chuck..The only way it would work is if the driver stand was moved back 6-8ft or build a bench that would be built around the driverstand legs, like Dan use to have at the old location. The bench always worked great for us...

Its normal chrome. Its just the angle of the pic and how the sun is reflecting off of it makes it look wierd.
My mini revo hates diffs, it eats them twice a week.  I replaced one last week in the rear, and one yesterday in the front. I stripped a rear one today. My slipper is extremely loose, too. I have replaced bearings, bulkheads, complete diffs, driveshafts, and just about everything else that I could replace to keep it from stripping.
Oh well. I think thats diff #8 or #9 today. :badbad:

Non existent :( 5 people showed up.
Me, David, and Pete had our 2wd slashes, so we had a little race between us. The truggy guys marshaled for us, then we marshaled for them.
I had a blast! Just as fun as a race day. Got my gearing on both of my trucks setup, got to run down quite a few 5000 lipos. :D

It was slick. It was a little moist in some of the higher traffic areas, but it was mostly dusty. Anything out of the "groove" that all 5 of us made it was like sandy. Dan raked the track with his tractor, so it made it loose. My calibers on my sc10 wheren't worth anything out there. It was fun drifting around though :)

Track was loose, but awesome. The extra jumps are welcomed, and overall more fun track then ever. My Mugen's didn't let me down except for the main. The pinion on the truggy came off, but before that she was stupid fast. Alot faster then my Losi was....even with the extra jumps, my mugen put down a faster lap time then my Losi....lol. The buggy was oustanding and pulled out a win with it. Good turnout in buggy and good to see Doc out there again in his new Losi 2.0 and George and David were rocking the D8's brushless style and a few more Losi 2.0's out there rocking the nitro mills. Great day indeed..... The 1/10th open class was BY FAR the biggest class....the driver stand looked like a sardine can...
My wife surprised me in Corr 4X4. She pulled out a win for only her 2nd race out there.....2 races and 2 wins for her..... She needs to turn pro....lol

Yeah Calibers hooked pretty decent on the SCT's. I had them on my Corr conversion that my wife drove. Tail end was a little happy on it, but that is more setup changes.

Woo hoo what a race day!
Mostly a great day for me. I was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd throughout the different heats with my mini revo and my slash.
I was in first most of the main in my slash, but at 1:30 to go I broke somthing. O well, just need to use some Loc-Tite next time.
Didn't get to race my mini in the main, because it was dark. I set a new personal best lap time today, 35 seconds with my mini revo!
Had a blast, see everyone in 2 weeks. :)

Mains wouldn't good to me either. Had two small rock get in between the flywheel and the chassis brace and kill the engine,,,,TWICE. Pete told me he could see sparks coming out of the bottom when I was going over a jump. Traction was hard to find allday for all the truggies and buggies. Other wise, talk about a turn radius, dude the Muuugen has got it. And the O'Donnells .21 is A HOSS. Bottom end was way to touchy for me. Jab the throttle from a stop or a slow turn and you are going around the wrong way. Definately torqie. Think I'll go up on the clutch bell one tooth to settle to motor a tad and also for the back straight.

Wow what a race day. Lots of truggy's......actually to many. Track was packed with some fast drivers. Good to see Dewayne potter come down from TN. Chuck, your truggy looked awesome...just crappy luck, also I think the half offset wheels might be hurting you too. I had a good day except picked the wrong tires for the main in truggy and MT. Still got the wins though in MT it was just about impossible to see the track...lol. The buggy was dialed.....couldn't complain. Got the buggy down to the low 35's....happy so far.

I've got both, the half off sets and 0 off sets. Ran o offset in 2 races and the 0 offsets in 2 races. In the main, I ran the 0 off set Calipers and the back end was so well planted that the front in was skating alot and coming off the ground. May have to do so mixing them up alittle with other tires to relieve the rear grip some. And got to learn to the truck alittle more and learn to ease into the throttle with the O'Donnell engine.

Yeah in the main I chose the wrong tires (Ibeams) and payed for it. The truck had ZERO side bite, but had TONS of forward traction and it made the truggy push bad as well. I think city blocks would have been the ticket or some gridirons. That track was hooking in the main unreal. Hats off to Dan for making the track WAY more challenging. Lots of jumps and whoops.......only the straight left now for high speeds....rest has bumps or jumps somewhere...lol

chuck what clutch did you use ..if you run the reg hard shoes on the m2c it will give you that slip you need especially with that powerhouse motor you got ..if you did run the m2c with reg hard shoes with the 1.0 springs ..try 2 shoes with .90 springs and 2 shoes with the 1.0 it will give even more spool up so the motor can get reving ..sounds like you had an awesome fun time ..i hope so that mugen is an awesome truck :D

try bowties in the rear and crime fighters in the front lpr ...or i always ran crimefighters all the way around ..theres way to much loose stuff and rock (unless the surface changed ) to run anything small pin ...i always had to run big pin to get side bite at cullman ...just my .02 ...me and schmitty coming out there in a couple a weeks ....just follow his lead on truggy tires ..hes got it figured out ...and hes got a million different sets of tires to try ...maybe it will be like mad maxx he might have a magic set of tires for ya :D..oh and did ya try gators ;)

Mini revo- We didn't get to race the main. I would have been 1st in mini revo if we went off of the mains line up.

I thought the track was great this weekend, the changes made were really very nice. I especially liked the little jump after the big double, it seemed to help curtail some of the hail mary jumps the 1/8th guys go for.
Even my 1/10 buggy was cooperating on it and I got second even after the transmission started to let go half way through the race. I could even strafe the tops of the whoops like a motocrosser (they normally swallow it up and get it all out of shape). I just still didn't have anything for Paw-Paw, though I must admit the traditional first corner pile up didn't help much (I always end up on bottom with the buggy). I was planning of retiring the X-Factory buggy as it is a bit fragile for a 1/8 type track but I am having second thoughts considering how good it felt this weekend.
I broke my CORR truck in the second heat but should be going again in two weeks, along with a Ho Bao Hyper 10SC for 4x4 CORR.
I agree with JZRevo, probably too many truggies, I know I was just about exhausted after each time I marshalled it (and spent most of the time praying I wouldn't get ran down :D ).

Well I just know that what Dan said. I took what plaque he gave me. I hope it didn't make anyone mad. I thought I was in 3rd at the last but the papers said I was 2nd. Maybe at the next race the counter will be fixed. I hate running races to where people have to count b/c 9 time out of 10 someone gets laps not counted.
But I want to say guys I had a great time and My Dad really enjoyed it too. I think thats the most fun we have had in awhile. Its so much more fun with several than just 3 to 4. I want to thank you guys for showing us a good time and being so nice to us.. We will be back for sure..

Yeah truggy was nuts. Trucks flying all over the place and when it gets dark its even worse. I had trouble seeing mine since its painted black (dumb move by me). Next body will be bright..... The laptimes were competitive all day in truggy, quite a few were running 40.XX and below, so made for close racing all day. Even Chuck threw down 40.XX's on 1st time out with his mugen. Blake went 39.8XX and he was stoked. David Turner was running 39's and Dewayne as well. Bumper to bumper....

I believe that Dan is having some problems with the transponders. The house transponders are starting to get worn down, they aren't counting laps and they are loosing battery life. I believe he is sadly going to do away with them once there are a few that are left working. That is fine for the "true" racers or people that have personal transponders, but the people who want to just come to a race and have fun, without spending 110$ on a transponder, are kinda in a bind. I don't have one, but I am going to buy one next week.
I thought I would post that so everyone would know what would be down the road. ;)

you can get mrt transponders from england ..the cost 63 dollars ..there is a guy on rc tech who gets an order up every so often ....they have primary number and 20 other possible numbers ..if some one has the number you have ...not likely ..you can program it to one of the other 20 numbers ...jason schmitty just got on board with one ..we will see how it works ..but most have said there awesome ...also they have a plug in ...in the side ...so gone would be the day of sending one back to amb only to find they wont repair the broken wires ...its worth a look

Yeah, i knew these were that set-up, but if you go to their site you can send a AMB transponder over and have it cloned as many times you want and have different colored leds and wrap.....pretty cool idea, but more expensive than these. I don't have the skills to race open, I stick to trucks that go under 30mph... :o
Really though, I have always liked 10th scale open. It would be funner for me if I had a "true" race truck, like a t4 or somthing, I am sure you'd like it.

:hamster:
On the sc10, the way that the shock towers sit and how the rear of the chassis comes up right beside the motor, and how most of the motor is covered by the tranny case, well, I don't think there is any air getting to the motor at all. I am running wayyyy to hot, I have even reageared it a few times. I figured running brushless on 2s would be a little more efficient, so it would be faster and run cooler.

that's kinda what I mean... you can jostle each other so much in corr it makes for a good time... but since they don't tangle it stays pretty clean (till you catch a nose to that back quarter and spin)...
but when I race anything else I try a little harder to not tangle up... not that I succeed - I spend half of each race on my back or on somebody elses... :football:

Brushless SC10 is in da house! I don't know if I am going to race it, because as far as I am concerned this 17.5t system will whoop a stock sc10. It's pretty quick.
I do have a slight problem though :( Once you get up to wide open throttle, my motor bogs. It like goes really quick then it just kinda screeches and slows down. It's like a brushed motor without bushing oil. I am not sure what to do, any suggestions?
:thinkhard:
****I talked to Dan today about the transponders and the AMB system today!****
Important! Since the AMB system was struck my lightning, Dan ordered a new loop and one of those little boxes that was fried. It should be here this Thursday! Saying that, the AMB counting system will be back to working properly, so no more of that mess that happened last race. ;)
There are currently 4 or 5 "house" transponders that are working properly. Dan was thinking about doing away with them completely. But today, he told me that he had changed his mind. He is going to send all the house transponders back to AMB. Then there will have 100% working house transponders. He never gave a exact date, but it will probably be in the next month or so.

Well, you know I just got that Duo 2 myself for the Strike and just put it in today and it did not do that. Ran extremely quiet actually. It does jump really strong out of the hole and seems to go sorta flat on top (and I went up 2 teeth from the brushed setup for a bit more top speed for Cullman). Have you advanced the timing from stock? Maybe if you did it is getting hot. Perhaps put some oil on the bearings, maybe they got away from the factory dry.
I can't tell how it feels speed wise compared to the stock motor, I need to go to the track to see it in the context of that enviroment to tell if it feels better (never drive at the house to have a place for comparison).
Did you end up using the Castle or VXL, I wanted to use my old regular Mamba Max but the motor refused to setup at all, not sure what that is about since that motor is supposed to work sensorless. So I put it on the VXL and it seems to work about the same sensored or not, I just wanted the adjustments of the Mamba.:(
Got the Ofna Hyper 10SC up and going too and it straight rips, it is gonna be a blast. Only thing is it threw the pinion off in a couple minutes (and it was Locktite'd). The pinion was an extra hole in it though so I think I will just drop an extra screw in for insurance. If I can get it to handle decent it should be pretty rowdy.

I really hope that "flat spot" on top isn't what is happening. :( I already sent a email to one of Trinity's reps about it, I hope to get a email back asap. I haven't adjusted timing because one of the screws in the endbell where stripped from the factory. I wasn't planning on changing it anyway.I was thinking about the bearings being dry, but I don't know. If they where, wouldn't that affect lower speed drivability? (Is that a word :p)
That Old Mamba may be set up with a older version of Castle link or somthing? You should hook it up to castle link and reset all the settings to default. Maybe it will work then.
I am running the VXL. My sensor wire isn't long enough to reach from my motor to my esc though. :( It may work with my slash if I mount the esc toward the back, but I don't think it's going to matter anyway.
Grrr Trinity....

I updated the firmware on the Castle before even trying so it is not that, I read on rctech today about some people having cogging issues on the Sidewinder so I figured that it would at least try to work on the Mamba. It may just be my esc as it wouldn't be the first time I needed to send it to Castle to get worked on.
I didn't see much difference between the VXL sensored or not, every once in a while it cogged a little but not as much as it didn't cog at all. Let me know what you find out from Trinity.

I know its haulin' serious azz...Dewayne was laughin at me over that...I've never ran against electrics and didn't realize how fast they are...On the trip back to Nooga I told Dewayne "I got to have one of those"! Jose drove a good race in the 3rd rd. I couldn't do anything but hold my line. Guess he got tired of seein' the back of my losi and that's when he passed me on the straight....my jaw still hurts!!!LOL!!

hehe, I have her geared for 36-37mph depending on tire growth. Most of the time on the straights the nitro's are the same. Nate and Bucky usually are faster then us electrics on the straights with their nitros....I think the gear up 1 more tooth on Dan's track since its so wide open.

MANDATORY 5 SECOND STOP.... first place I raced at that runs 1/8 electric and gas together....Jose dusted my poor ol' losi. Haven't been down to Dans in over a year and seen a bunch of new faces..what happen to all the gas racers there?
Lots of new racers. We all started last year in Feb (Myself, Blake, Dylan, Jared...etc) and mostly in MT except for Jared which started in 1/8th buggy. We have all migrated to other classes now and some of us just liked the electrics. Some of the nitro guys have converted to electrics and some have converted to nitro from electric. One thing is for sure Dan's track has a good mix of both and makes for some close racing. As for the pits......if all the cars elect to have no pits in a 10min race then he will allow it. But if just one nitro has to pit in those 10 mins, then everyone has to including the electrics.

wheres some of those videos got a link ...and yeh it just matters how consistant you are ..top speed and fast lap usually never win a race ...but if you can consistantly get your lap times lower then its all good ..which i know you have worked hard to do ...i still think you ready to take the rookie tag off ...:nanabooboo:

Consistent always wins races.....that is why Chill is hard to beat. Your theory is flawed. I'm consistent and I don't win. Consistently slow. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA but you just said consistent. :D I'm working on it though. Hoping to get either a HB D8T, or a 8T 2.0 soon, still deciding which to get. Hopefully a better truck will help me out. Until then I'm going to keep putting Micheal's 8T 1.0 through it's paces.

They used to have the race results in J-Lap, but I believe thier subscription ended so they stopped posting results. Last year, Angie scanned a few pages and posted them, that was at Tech Talk. I am sure someone could get all the listings at the race, then scan them and post them. I have a scanner, and could probably do it for a few races. ;)

I have my endpoints centered up and it still feels a little flat on top and it should be fine that way.
I love that, the major marketing point of the Duo is its ability to run sensorless (hence the Duo part of the name I assumed) and they want you to get a sensored speed control. There website says it works with all older sensorless designs even or something to that effect.
I knew I should have got the Tekin (or Hacker), I let nostalgia take over and ordered the Duo based on how good Trinity was back in the day and should have remembered that since they became Team Epic they have gone downhill.
Maybe fooling with the timing will liven it up on top some, we'll see if it keeps working.

all you new guys going brushless the speed controls you have should work just fine... you are going to have to play with your gearing quite a bit to get the motors to run correctly... i have not run the any of the trinity epic motors but i do know that the brushless motors are tourq monsters... you will more than likely need to gear up 2 or more teeth to get the speed out of it... just keep an eye on the temp... i dont like mine to get any hotter than 160 deg... as far a the sensor stuff all the sensor really will do for ya is smooth out the low speed and take off... hope this might help some of ya!!! i am not an expert at all on brushless, i will try and help out anyone that wants help with making the switch... i may be at cullman this week again to race...i am still working on the kitchen pass...:D:D:D

of course, all of us talking about our new brushless are driving in the corr class and only have low speed :)... I put a novak on mine this weekend and I do like the feel of it a little better at low speed. I geared based on the (novak) motor load chart and I definitely had to gear up from stock to get anything out of it.

Should have spoken with me. Don't waste your time with anything other then MMP, Tekin....the rest....junk. Motors, if you want to do it right.....NEU, Lehner, Castle, Tekin...etc. in that order. NEU is the top of the food chain with kevlar wrapped rotors....then the rest follow. All of those companies offer a 540 equiv. motor and 17.5T or 13.5T variant.

Yes on startup they are a little smoother, but with the switching speeds of the MMP and MMM and on the horizon the Mamba HV they are just as smooth. Trust me I have a new 8S setup with a big motor and LOW KV and its smoother then butter. I will have it out there this weekend for testing, your more then welcome to drive it. The power and efficiency of LOW KV and HV is unreal. I have been sharing some data with Jarvis on what I'm seeing on the logs and its incredible. 30-60mins run times with no stops are coming.:)

I love my Novak (sensored) in the RC10T4, but would never run them in 1/8 scale. I tried a sensorless setup on a XXX-T stadium truck and didn't like it and sold it. Castle has fixed all the bugs in the sensorless controllers since then, and they are suppose to be just as smooth. The first guy that converted at our track burned up three or four of those HV controllers under braking. He was also running Max Amp packs.

Well, with the results being as good as it is in runtime, the price of a good brushless system is what you would pay for a Vspec, and the cost of lipos being $30.00 the electric classes will be there. Separation of the classes might not be a bad thing once it happens.

I prefer running with the Nitro's be honest with you. I have never had as much fun as racing against Cookie in truggy ,his nitro Jammin X2 and my Losi 8T 2.0 E-truggy were neck and neck at Madmaxx all day.
