We have gotten lots of calls about the format for the SLASH/Short Course. The 4x4 Slashs are out now and are shipping. What format do you guys think we should run? Please let us know what you guys want. As of now, we are staying with our Stock RTR Corr format as listed in the 2010 GCS Format, but would like to have some more input from the racers.

Thanks

I like the PNB's rules

I know it doesn't include 4wd but I haven't heard of anyone actually having one

and I think if you do make a class make it open SCT 4wd or 2wd any motor, servo, hopups etc.

I for one believe in stock (as shipped) motors and any unmodified tires made for the SCT. If you allow motor changes that's 1/10 open in my uneducated view.

If it's advertised as a CORR truck, let the manufacturers battle it out.

4WD needs to be just called 4WD open, since many of the 4WD coming out will not be RTR. So in essence will be open to mods. The ones that are RTR will be fast brushless systems and fastest doesn't always win, so IMO. 4WD should be an Open class. Tire rules could be to only allow SCT tires/wheels as in the 2WD rules, don't allow adapters to run buggy tires, etc...

If I remember correctly, last yr there was an "experimental" 8th scale electric class which never actually ran due to lack of entries. Maybe the same can be done with 4wd short course. If they are so popular that 20 guys show up with em, let em run. If instead it turns out that there's only a handful of racers "lighting up" the forums, it's a no go.

I don't think you can compare 1/8 electric to 4WD SCT electric. The barrier to entry is quite different on so many levels. If you can judge the demand by what the distributors are telling me, I think it is going to be the biggest class for 2010. The only thing is, with regards to GCS or any other series, it is kind of a risk to try to implement that class since these vehicles are literally just now becoming available with several other brands not available until mid January or later. If mine comes in before CWC, I plan to be showing off there as well. So far the initial reviews of people that have these already are stoked about it.

We don’t want to add another class. However there is a lot of buzz about the 4x4 becoming a large class in 2010. This buzz is considerable larger than the 1/8 electric buzz that was going on at the start of 2009.

We want to include as many racers as possible but we dont want to have so many classes that it takes 15 hours to run them all.

Thanks for the input !

I see on the GCS webpage that there is a stock SCT (2wd) class and an open class. There is a long list of rules for the stock class, but I don't see anything about open. I assume then that anything goes in the open class (buggy tires, 1/8 scale ESC/motors, battery, etc...). Is that correct? I just got a new Hyper 10SC and don't want to waste any money on stuff that won't be legal.

SCT tires are required, full body (must cover tires when viewed from above), must be a true 1/10 SCT truck (no buggy conversions). 550 motors are allowed. Any ESC, as far as I know.

Are these rules posted somewhere? I heard that there are some guys running buggies with a SCT body on them. My truck is a true SCT with a 1/10 scale system. The thing I am worried about is tires. I don't want to limit myself to SCT tires if everyone else is on buggy tires.

Okay, I just spoke on the phone with Jamey. Not having the rules on the website was an oversight that will soon be corrected.

For Open SCT, the basic rules are as follows:

- Chassis must be a purpose-built SCT (2 or 4wd allowed). No conversions of any type (buggy, etc)

- SCT-specific tires and wheels (2.2" x 3.0") must be used. No 1/8th scale tires will be allowed.

- The body must be a SCT body that covers all 4 wheels when viewed from overhead. Carnage bodies (allowing fenders to fall off, etc) are not allowed.

- Any motor/ESC/battery combo may be used.

If I have missed anything, I know that Jamey will add to this list, but that covers basically everything.

Thanks Gene!

The OPEN SCT rules will be posted on the GCS web page shortly...

The OPEN class was formed due to the large amount of talk about the 4wd SCT. We felt that there was not enough to warrant a complete class for 4wd during the 2010 Season. We also felt that making it an"OPEN" SCT class...this would also give a class for the the 2wd guys that wanted to modify thier SCT's and use crazy motor and Battery combos. So we combine the two into 1 class......We perdict that the 2 classes will mature going into the 2011 season and changes to the 2011 GCS format will be considered.

Thanks
